Caya. A Star Is Born!

The Caya / SILCS diaphragm development story

Contraceptive diaphragms, in their modern form, have been around for over five decades. However, with the growing demand for non-hormonal contraceptives, there was a challenge to revive the diaphragm and bring it into the 21st century.

The journey began in 1994, and over the next 15 years, it involved extensive research, development, prototyping, and testing, all accompanied by immense hard work.

The story is narrated in the online publication below, providing a truly captivating glimpse into the meticulous process of transforming a concept from the drawing board to the pharmacy shelves.

Single Size Revolution

There are seven typical diaphragm sizes, and a precise fit is crucial for effective contraception with a traditional diaphragm. Using the wrong size can drastically reduce its effectiveness. However, diaphragm size changes with weight gain, loss, childbirth, or other vaginal procedures, making it challenging to ensure the correct size.

The Caya diaphragm simplifies this process by offering a single-size device. While Caya isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, once you confirm you fall within the 65mm to 80mm range, you can use Caya without frequent refitting.

Approximately 80% of women fall within this compatible range. Those who don’t can use either a traditional diaphragm or a cervical cap.

The Caya diaphragm has successfully been launched worldwide, with real-world data demonstrating the success of the design. Its high efficiency and user approval have proven its effectiveness, moving it from the drawing board to fulfilling its role in the bedroom.
